BVCA Seeks Venture Czar

The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association has asked the government to appoint a ‘venture czar.

The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has asked the government to appoint a ‘venture czar,’ AltAssets reports. The czar will be in charge of attracting private sector investment for private venture capital funds and the various funds backed by the government. The venture capital industry is also seeking an increase in tax relief to 50% for start-up investments, with the same benefit extended to later stage funding rounds for those already invested. The BVCA is concerned that the U.K.’s venture market is being held back due to lack of government support.
