The Teacher Retirement System of Texas has found a successor to Britt Harris.
The board of trustees officially appointed interim CIO Jerry Albright as the $140 billion pension fund’s new investment chief, TRS announced Thursday.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have someone as capable, experienced, and knowledgeable as Jerry to fill our CIO position,” board chair David Kelly said in a statement. “Jerry has what it takes to build on our success over the past 10 years.”
Albright has worked for TRS for 23 years, including roles as chief operating officer and director of investment operations. He has also served as chairman of the fund’s internal investment committee and as sole director of TRICOT London, Texas Teachers’ first international office.
His promotion comes after longtime CIO Harris departed last month to be CEO and CIO of the University of Texas Investment Management Company. Albright had previously served as deputy CIO before being appointed interim CIO following Harris’ departure.
“Jerry and his team have not only the required institutional knowledge to carry on the progress we’ve made over the past decade, but they have all the skills, inspiration, and cultural alignment, necessary to build upon that progress and continue our role as an industry leader for years to come,” executive director Brian Guthrie said in a statement.
