Boone Pickens has halved his $2 billion wind-turbine order with General Electric, The Wall Street Journal reports. The oilman said he would cut his order for the Pampa Wind Farm in North Texas wind farm to 333 turbines, from 667 machines, and use them for wind farms in Canada and Minnesota.
The project was announced in May 2008, to increase the use of natural gas to power big rigs, buses and other large vehicles. Pickens may reconsider the project if Texas makes more investments in transmission lines to carry power from the remote wind farm to towns and cities.
