William Greene Jr. Morgan Stanley
William Greene Jr. advances from runner-up to third place; the Morgan Stanley analyst is also ranked second in Airlines. Last October, Greene urged clients to buy Union Pacific Corp., dubbing the shares a bargain at $57.04. The Omaha, Nebraska–based railroad’s stock had steamed ahead 27.9 percent, to $72.94, by the end of August. “Bill was a bull when other analysts were chickens,” recalls one grateful buy-sider. Confides another: “I outsource all my stock picking to Bill.”
