Emerson Leite, Nilson Teixeira & team Credit Suisse
Rising one notch to second place is the nine-member Credit Suisse squad co-headed by strategist Emerson Leite, who also leads the top-ranked team in Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals, and economist Nilson Teixeira. In August 2009 the team upgraded steel producer Gerdau from underperform all the way to outperform, at R21.76, calling the shares undervalued at a time of rising demand. The stock catapulted 45 percent, to R31.55, and led the sector by 17.9 percentage points in April before receding to R25.40 in late July. The São Paulo–based analysts “are extremely helpful for excellent locally sourced information,” says one devotee.
