Among the São Paulo–based threesome’s top calls was a January 19 reiteration of its underperform rating on the American depositary receipts of Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile, a leading fertilizer maker in that country, on the grounds that its $42.71 valuation was high in light of an expected decline in earnings this year. The stock had tumbled to $37.99 by late July, a loss of 11.1 percent versus the broad market’s 2.8 percent dip.
