Timna Tanners UBS
Timna Tanners repeats in third place. The UBS analyst upgraded Allegheny Technologies, a specialty-metals manufacturer headquartered in Pittsburgh, from neutral to buy last October, at $35.39, because she had confidence that its key aerospace market would start to see signs of life from jet-engine manufacturer restocking in 2010. The stock soared above $54 in the spring, only to drift down to $40.72 by the end of August, for a gain of 15.1 percent since the upgrade. Tanners, who is based in Stamford, Connecticut, impresses clients with her accessibility. “Timna has the best response time of any sell-side analyst I speak with,” says one money manager.
