There’s an old expression that is particularly appropriate for the current state of the stock market: “When going through hell . . . keep going.” February led us into a flood of bad news and uncertainty, and the market reacted by sinking 20 percent. The Wall ticks up one notch to start March at 21. Looking ahead, the rising tide includes teetering Eastern European economies and talk of U.S. bank nationalizations. Keep moving through this spell of market hell and be wary, because “it’s bad out there, high water everywhere.”
