The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has signed a licensing deal with Colombo-headquartered technology solutions provider, MillenniumIT, to move its equity market trading activity onto the Millennium Exchange. Financial terms of the deal between the London Stock Exchange’s MillenniumIT and JSE were not disclosed.

The migration from its present trading platform, JSE TradElect, is planned for the first half of 2012. The change may help JSE members benefit from executing transactions almost 400 times faster than the present trading solution. As per the deal, JSE will move its trading system from London to Johannesburg, boosting operational efficiencies and ensuring trading optimization for market participants.
