Mobile satellite operator Inmarsat has hired New York Stock Exchange–listed global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings as risk management adviser and placing broker for its new generation of satellites. The deal covers the setting up and in-orbit function of Inmarsat’s upcoming broadband satellite network Global Xpress and launch of the Alphasat satellite as well as existing in-orbit satellites. The appointment also includes the management of Inmarsat’s existing in-orbit fleet. Willis, broker to Inmarsat for non-space policies since early 2010, will be creating and implementing a risk mitigation strategy for Inmarsat’s suite of technology for effective insurance valuation.
