An ex-partner at The Children’s Investment Fund (TCI) is planning to launch a global long/short equity hedge fund, Financial News reports. Stuart Powers’ new vehicle will not open to external money until early 2012, due to a non-solicitation agreement with TCI. The fund will have a $600-700 million capacity and take about 20 positions in the long book and about 10 single-stock positions in the short book. Powers served as senior analyst at TCI before he left in January after seven years with the group.
