Ireland sold its sovereign wealth fund assets through April 2011 to repay the state bailout, The Wall Street Journal reports. The National Pension Reserve Fund (NPRF) currently holds about €5.3 billion in its discretionary portfolio, down from €9.8 billion in March 2011.
The value of NPRF’s directed portfolio was about €13.38 billion at the end of March 2011. The European Union and International Monetary Fund had offered €67.5 billion in loans to Ireland in November 2010 to rescue its banks.
