Canada’s Alpha Group, an alternative trading platform, has applied for exchange status to set up its Alpha exchange. The company’s application has been published for a 45-day comment period by the regulators.
The group is entering the listing business to improve competition, cut the cost of trading and market data as well improve the quality and liquidity of Canadian securities markets, adds Reuters. Alpha, which operates an alternative trading system, Alpha ATS, has 92 subscribers and active trading of over 1,700 securities.
