Barclays Private Equity has sold FirstAssist Insurance Services for £71 million to U.S. Cigna Corp., Market Watch reports. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is likely to be completed by the end of 2011.
The purchase will add a new product line to Cigna’s global portfolio, facilitate the company in boosting its individual business in the U.K. and across the world, adds IFA Online. FirstAssist has some three million policy holders in the U.K.
