The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has named Réal Desrochers as senior investment officer of its private equity (PE) program. Desrochers will handle a private equity investments portfolio with $49 billion in committed capital and also oversee CalPERS private equity investment team and external advisors.
He will work under the pension fund’s CIO, Joseph Dear. Previously, Desrochers served at Saudi Arabian Investment Company as CIO and has also advised firms such as, Blackstone Capital and JH Whitney.
