Berkshire Partners has raised $4.5 billion for its private equity investment fund. The Berkshire Partners VIII received commitments from investors, including endowments, foundations, pension funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds.
The fund’s portfolio will comprise of companies valued at about $0.2-2 billion. Berkshire is seeking to commit $50-500 million of equity capital to each portfolio company. Weil, Gotshal & Manges was the fund counsel.
