Bank of America Merrill Lynch has appointed John Thiel as the new head of U.S. wealth management, The Wall Street Journal reports. He is currently the head of the private banking and investment group at the bank and will continue to retain this role as well.
In his new role, Thiel will be replacing Lyle LaMothe, who is leaving the bank on May 1, 2011. Thiel joined Merrill Lynch in 1989 as a financial adviser in Tampa and most recently led the ultra-high net worth group.
