The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), the nation’s largest public pension fund, has appointed Sean Tracy as head of its newly set up enterprise strategy and performance division. He succeeds Nancy Quinlan, who has been serving as chief of the retirement system’s former arm looking after strategic management services. Tracy, who is due to join on December 7, will report to Steve Kessler, deputy executive officer for operations and technology.
Tracy will be in charge of the overall planning, development and monitoring of the system’s strategic and annual business plans working with its executive leadership team. In addition, he will handle the development of performance measures for the organization and will help coordinate its position on urgent enterprise emerging issues. Tracy will be joining from the California Department of Mental Health where is working as assistant deputy director of the community services division.
