Credit Suisse has appointed Antonio Viana-Baptista as CEO of its Iberia operations. Based in Madrid, he will work under Fawzi Kyriakos-Saad, CEO of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Viana-Baptista is replacing Fernando Abril-Martorell, who stepped down from this position in late March 2011.
In the new role role, Viana-Baptista will execute integrated banking strategy via private banking, investment banking and asset management units in Spain and Portugal. Previously, he has served at Telefonica, Banco Portugues de Investimento and McKinsey.
