Russian state gas company, Gazprom, has acquired the Siberian Kovykta gas field from BP’s Russian joint venture, TNK-BP, Financial Times reports. Gazprom has paid about $770 million for the transaction. The TNK-BP unit that holds the license to the field, Rusia Petroleum, filed for bankruptcy in June 2010, adds The Wall Street Journal. The field contains about 2,000 billion cubic metres of gas.
