Columbia Management has rolled out two open-end mutual funds, the Columbia Acorn Emerging Markets Fund and the Columbia Acorn European Fund. The international equity funds invest in companies with market caps below $5 billion. The emerging markets fund managed by Fritz Kaegi and Stephen Kusmierczak invests a minimum 80% of assets in firms of emerging markets such as China, Brazil and India.
The European fund managed by Andreas Waldburg-Wolfegg invests at least 70% in Western European countries, with up to 30% in frontier Central and Eastern European nations. The allocation consists of nearly 10% in companies in Russia and the Ukraine. Both funds will be handled by Columbia Wanger Asset Management.
