Texas System May Raise HF Allocation

The Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, may be able to commit up to 10% of its $108 billion in assets to hedge funds.

The Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, may be able to commit up to 10% of its $108 billion in assets to hedge funds, Pensions & Investments reports. Currently, the system is permitted to invest 5% in the asset class.

The current hedge fund allocation was set by the Legislature in 2007. The increase in allocation is part of a bill in the state House of Representatives, which is being sponsored by Representative John Otto.
