SEC Appoints Commissioner

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Daniel Gallagher as commissioner.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Daniel Gallagher as commissioner. He succeeds Kathleen Casey, who left in August, adds Pensions & Investments.

Gallagher was general counsel and senior vice president at Fiserv Securities before he joined the regulatory agency in 2006 as a counsel to SEC commissioner Paul Atkins and later as a counsel to SEC chairman Christopher Cox. He also was deputy director in the division of trading and markets in 2008, where his duties included helping formulate the SEC’s response to the financial crisis. He joined the Washington law firm WilmerHale in 2010 as a partner.
