Gensler Mulls Phasing In Derivatives Regs

Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the CFTC may opt to phase in new derivatives regulations gradually, reports Market News International.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the CFTC may opt to phase in new derivatives regulations gradually rather than all at once. In remarks before the Senate Agriculture Committee, Gensler said staggered effective dates “give market participants time to develop policies, procedures, systems and infrastructure needed to comply with the new regulatory requirements” and would “lower risk and costs of compliance.”
