Franklin Templeton may think about expanding its existing range of Reit funds by adding an Asia-Pacific or emerging-market real estate investment securities fund, Asian Investors reports. However, at present it does not plan to do so. The timing of any such new launch would be determined by investor demand, according to Wilson Magee, the asset manager’s director of global Reits.
To make its international exposure to property more reflective and balanced Franklin Templeton started investing beyond Reits in January. The California-based company also changed the benchmark of its funds on May 1 from the S&P Global BMI Reit Index to the FTSE Epra/Nareit Global Developed Index.
