Grupo Mexico is planning to restart its $1 billion Tia Maria project in Peru, Financial Times reports. The government has previously halted the project due to environmental issues.
The Mexican company expects to acquire permission from the new government, due to take power by the end of July 2011, to reopen the project. The company will have to install a desalination plant to provide water for Tía María as part of measures to ensure the environment.
