David Smith has been recruited by Aberdeen Asset Management Asia as head of corporate governance for its Asian investment team. Forensic corporate governance expert Smith will mainly help the 35-member Asian equity team but will additionally aid the company’s Asian fixed income group also.
Smith’s job will involve doing forensic accounting, including balance sheet analysis, conducting corporate due diligence and representing Aberdeen in its governance engagement with companies and industry organizations. Most recently, he worked with corporate governance solutions provider Institutional Shareholder Services as head of Asia-excluding-Japan research and led a team of 20 regional analysts.
