Serbia is seeking a new €250 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), Bloomberg reports. The country, which is planning to become a European Union member, intends to use the proceeds from the credit line to boost exports. The EIB’s board of directors is likely to approve the lending for the Serbian exporters on April 14. Around one-third of the new loan, or €80 million, will be granted to Italian carmaker, Fiat, for its new Serbian plant and car-part producers who supply Fiat.
