Corporate Pension Fund Returns Highest

Corporate pension funds, which gave a median return of -7.94 percent, performed the best in the third quarter among funds in the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service.

Corporate pension funds, which gave a median return of -7.94 percent, performed the best in the third quarter among funds in the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service (Wilshire TUCS), Pensions & Investments reports. Public pension funds returned -8.94 percent while Taft-Hartley defined benefit plans gave a return of -9.03 percent.

Foundations and endowments returned -9.24 percent for the quarter, as per the comparison service which covers about 900 plans with $2.92 trillion in assets. For the year ended September 30, corporate funds were again at the top with a median return of 1.98 per cent. Wilshire TUCS, a widely accepted benchmark for the performance of institutional assets, is a collaborative effort between Wilshire Associates and custodial organizations.
