The Futures Industry Association (FIA) and its London-based sister organization, the Futures and Options Association (FOA), are exploring the possibility of closer co-operation, Financial Times reports. A taskforce is considering possibilities that may include a merger of the two trade associations for banks, brokers and other users of the derivatives markets. FIA has expanded its focus to include the swap clearing activities of its existing members, which include banks, such as Goldman Sachs, HSBC and RBS. FIA is also mulling on setting up an office in Asia, probably in Singapore.
