The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has rolled out a new service to trade U.K. government bonds, Reuters reports. The latest addition of the U.K. government securities, known as gilts, will take the number of European sovereign bonds on the exchange to 17.
The LSE will be vying for trade with inter-dealer brokers, such as ICAP and BGC Partners, which already offer investors a service to trade U.K. government bonds over the phone or electronically, adds The Telegraph. The launch is part of an effort by the bourse to expand its business away from its main activity of U.K. share trading.
