In May then-governor Jim McGreevey appoints hedge fund manager Orin Kramer to the board of the New Jersey State Investment Council. Kramer becomes chairman in September. In December the Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System makes its initial investment in a fund-of-hedge-funds program created by BAAM.
