Italian power company, Enel, is mulling a government proposal to buy assets in rival utility, Edison, Reuters reports. State-controlled oil and gas group, Eni, has also been asked to buy Edison assets, if Edison’s shareholders disagree on the deal. The companies have been asked by the Italian Treasury to buy assets in Edison if its two key shareholders fail to agree on a restructuring. French utility, EDF and Italian utility, A2A, control Edison through a shareholder agreement.
