CFTC To Collect Swaps Data To Help With Regs

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission will begin collecting data on swaps trading to help it develop regulations for the over-the-counter derivatives market, reports Bloomberg.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission will begin collecting data on swaps trading to help it develop regulations for the over-the-counter derivatives market, said Scott O’Malia, a CFTC commissioner. Speaking at the Futures Industry Association annual conference, O’Malia said the agency will focus on how many swap trades are completed each day and which of those the industry considers standardized.
