Australian super fund, UniSuper, has selected financial services software company, GBST, to provide its after-tax benchmarking technology, Super Review reports. From July 1, 2011, the performance of UniSuper’s Australian share managers will be calculated after tax, with excess returns measured against a GBST-calculated S&P/ASX series of after-tax indices.
As per the Cooper Super System Review, benchmarking funds on an after-tax basis can boost member portfolio returns by as much as 200 basis points. The quantitative data services business, GBST Quant, offers benchmark solutions both pre- and post-tax. The custom benchmarks can range from slight variations to standard industry indices through to completely custom calculations.
