Wells Fargo is planning to recruit over 1,000 people to increase staff at its 404 Mid-Atlantic retail banks, The Wall Street Journal reports. The bank is looking to make the appointments in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, by mid-May, ahead of Wachovia’s switch to the Wells Fargo brand and systems this fall. The new appointees will include tellers, personal bankers, regional bank private bankers and store managers. Wells Fargo has already hired 600 store team members in the region since it closed its merger with Wachovia at the end of 2008.
