Policy makers should review whether a global currency-reserve system focused on the U.S. dollar is sustainable, said South Korean finance minister, Yoon Hyun, Bloomberg reports. It is difficult to decide if the current international monetary system that uses a particular currency as a reserve currency can remain sustainable globally, he added. French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, had previously also raised the issue of reducing the dollar’s role as a reserve currency. Sarkozy has emphasized a greater use of euros and other currencies.
