JP Morgan Chase’s private-equity portfolio has risen 16% during the first quarter, Bloomberg reports. The cost of the portfolio was listed at $10.8 billion, an 8.2% increase in three months, while the carrying value of the portfolio was $10.1 billion, 6.6% below cost. The bank’s total private-equity gains increased 88% in three months and 435% from a year earlier to $727 million. One Equity Partners, led by managing partner, Dick Cashin, manages about $8 billion of the bank’s private-equity holdings.
