Private equity group Permira is buying the corporate call centre services unit of Alcatel-Lucent for up to $1.5 billion, Financial Times reports. Alcatel, the Franco-American communications equipment manufacturer, has agreed to the deal and is likely to make the news public during the coming week. The unit, Genesys, vends software used in call centers and video conferencing. It was bought by Alcatel in 2000.
