Denham Capital Management, which runs about $4.3 billion, has obtained commitments of approximately $1.6 billion for its sixth fund, Denham Commodity Partners Fund VI, Bloomberg reports. The private equity firm, which focuses on energy and commodity investments, garnered this amount in the first round of capital raising.
The fund was launched in June. The firm estimates that it would be able to finish fundraising in the first quarter of next year and also exceed the initial target of $2.5 billion for the fund. Blackstone’s fund placement division Park Hill Group is assisting Boston-based Denham in this effort.
