Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, a Polish media tycoon, is in talks to acquire Poland’s second largest mobile phone operator Polkomtel, Financial Times reports. The tycoon placed a bid worth $6.5 billion for the mobile operator.
Other bidders are private equity firm Apax with a $6 billion bid. Vodafone, which owns 24.4% of Polkomtel, may not secure full ownership of the operator by exercising a right of first refusal to buy out other shareholders.
