Threadneedle Investments is seeking to expand in Asia, Financial Times reports. The London-based international asset management firm, thus far focused mainly on institutional clients in the region, is eying licenses for wholesale distribution through banks, insurance companies and other wholesale outlets in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The group, which is also eying expanding into wholesale distribution in Japan, intends to expand assets under management in Asia. Some top fund managers of Threadneedle, including Gigi Chan, the London-based manager of the China Opportunities Fund, will relocate to Asia.
