The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Craig Lewis as chief economist and director of the division of risk, strategy and financial innovation (RiskFin). Lewis, who is currently a visiting scholar at the SEC, will assume his new role in June 2011. He will not only lead SEC’s team of economists, but will also help inject data-driven analysis into the SEC’s decision-making process. Lewis was most recently working as a finance professor at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
