CME Plans To Exit Illinois Over Tax Hike

CME Group is considering a possible move of its corporate base, in response to a state tax hike.

CME Group is considering a possible move of its corporate base, in response to a state tax hike, Chicago Sun Times reports. The Illinois government raised the state’s corporate tax rate to 9.5% from 7.3%.

The state legislature’s tax hike on corporations will cost the Chicago-based exchange an extra $50 million a year. CME is owner of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange.
