Vattenfall is offloading its Polish assets for a total of $2.6 billion as part of restructuring efforts by the Swedish power group, Financial Times reports. Polish natural gas firm PGNiG will acquire Warsaw-based Vattenfall Heat, which owns heat and power assets, for $1.03 billion cash. Tauron, a power utility, will purchase Vattenfall’s Polish power distribution business Gornoslaski Zaklad Electroenergetyczny for $1.25 billion in cash and assume more than $347.70 million in debt. State-owned Vattenfall will now only focus on Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands to boost its financial performance and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
