The University of Connecticut’s (UConn) new president Susan Herbst is seeking to extend the school’s endowment fund past $1 billion, The Associated Press reports. The fund is not enough to handle difficult financial times, Herbst added.
The endowment is currently nearly $288 million. The university is increasing tuition fee by 2.5% to absorb the loss in state money. Herbst and her husband also recently donated $100,000 to the university.
