U.S. agency broker Instinet has rolled out a dark pool for Australian equities, The Wall Street Journal reports. The Nomura Holdings-backed firm’s liquidity pool, Instinet BLX, already functions in the U.S. and Canada.
The launch of Instinet BLX Australia comes after regulatory approval for Chi-X Global, owned by Nomura, to operate in Australia. BLX Australia will join Instinet’s Australian sales trading desk and its advanced suite of electronic trading tools for the domestic market, adds GC Australia.
