A senior Goldman Sachs oil and gas banker, William Montgomery, is stepping down from the firm’s Houston office, Bloomberg reports. Montgomery intends to join a local private-equity firm, Quantum Energy Partners.
Montgomery was part of the Goldman teams that advised Schlumberger on its $11 billion purchase of Smith International in 2010, and Apache on its $7 billion acquisition of assets from BP. He has also formerly served at Merrill Lynch as partner in 2002.
