Carlyle Buys 55% ESG Stake

Carlyle Group has acquired a 55% stake in New York-based emerging markets equities and macroeconomic strategies investment firm Emerging Sovereign Group.

Carlyle Group has acquired a 55% stake in New York-based emerging markets equities and macroeconomic strategies investment firm Emerging Sovereign Group (ESG). The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ESG founder Kevin Kenny will continue serve as CIO and manage the daily operations, all investment decisions and portfolio construction. ESG was set up in 2002 by Kenny with an initial investment from Julian Robertson via Tiger Management.
