The endowment of Yale University generated a 21.9 percent return on its investment for the year ended June.

The endowment of Yale University generated a 21.9 percent return on its investment for the year ended June, The Wall Street Journal reports. With a gain of $3.6 billion, the endowment’s value rose to $19.4 billion. Spending from the endowment was $992 million for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, which accounted for 37 percent of the university’s net revenues. The fund made operating budget distributions of $1 billion.
